This qualitative study investigates how school administrators navigate complex ethical dilemmas and the role of ethical leadership in decision-making processes. Arar and Saiti explore the tension between bureaucratic requirements and the moral imperative to promote equity and social justice within educational settings. The authors utilize semi-structured interviews to reveal that administrators often face "clashes of values" where personal ethics, professional codes, and community expectations intersect. The article evaluates the necessity of a multidimensional ethical framework—incorporating the ethics of care, justice, and critique—to resolve these conflicts effectively. This source is particularly valuable for its focus on the practical application of ethical theories in high-stakes public sector environments. It challenges traditional top-down leadership models by advocating for a more reflexive and culturally responsive approach. While the findings are specific to the educational context, the underlying principles of navigating competing stakeholder interests are broadly applicable to organizational leadership studies.
