Newstate University integrates external industry-recognized credentials and certifications as direct pathways for competency validation, potentially allowing students to receive Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). The acceptance is tied to specific external certifications that align with the required skills and knowledge embedded in the curriculum architecture.

The core principle of Newstate University's PLA is that credit is awarded not for time spent learning, but for demonstrated mastery of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) defined in the institutional competencies.

The Newstate guarantee: We ensure every credit awarded meets the highest standards of academic rigor while prioritizing the practical application of knowledge. Future-proof your career for the AI economy by starting with the credit you’ve already earned.

Frequently asked questions

How many credits can I transfer?

A maximum of 75% of credits can be transferred to Newstate University from other institutions. This limit applies to the combined total of Transfer Credits (TC) and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) credits awarded toward a degree. No more than 23 courses can be TC or CPL for the BAS program.

Do "Shared Credits" count against my transfer limit?

The credits that are "shared" in a 3+1 structure, where an undergraduate student enrolls in and completes graduate courses (MBAi courses) at Newstate University, count as residency credit earned at Newstate University. Therefore, the shared credits do not count against the 75% limit on prior learning or transferred external credits. Instead, they fulfill the remaining 25% residency requirement of the undergraduate degree while simultaneously applying toward the minimum 30 semester hours required for the Master's degree.

Can you transfer credit for grad certs?

Within each graduate certificate, a maximum of one (1) of the two required courses may be satisfied through transfer credit from another institution, with the remaining course completed in residence at Newstate University.
